Today’s devotion is “Redemption Through the Blood of Christ” and my text is found in Colossians 1:12-14. “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” (KJV) The importance of the shed Blood (not spilled) is being questioned by liberal religious thinkers today. They say “The death of Christ is what’s important, not the Blood that flowed from His body!” God’s Word declares that the “shedding of blood” from the Son of God is of the utmost importance. These liberals not only deny the Word, they don’t have a clue as to what it says and teaches.
All of the Old Testament sacrifices foreshadowed the coming Lamb of God and shows us, not only the substitutionary death of the sacrifice, but most importantly, the “Blood” that was offered for the sin of the people. The Word of God does not declare the death of the sacrifice atoning for the soul, but in fact, the Blood was the substance that atoned for the soul of the sinner. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” (KJV) From Genesis to the Revelation, the Word of God has stressed the importance of the “power” of the Blood of Christ. Don’t ever allow the devil or any of his little preachers undermine this scriptural truth in your heart.
