Today’s devotion continues, “The Importance in John Seeing the Voice of God” with my text being Revelation 1:10-20, but my emphasis is vs. 12a where it says “And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.” (KJV) Previously, we saw the “Importance of the Holy Spirit’s Connection” to John. Today, I want to consider vs. 10-11, as we see “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” (KJV)
When John saw the Voice, he saw the “Authority of the Son of God.” First, Jesus Christ is the authority of God the Creator! The Lord declares Himself “the First and the Last” or beginning and ending. Evolutionists base their beliefs on the theory of an unbeliever, Charles Darwin. Evolution has evolved from Biological Evolution, which destroys faith in God, to Social Evolution, which determines the value of people races in society, to Spiritual Evolution, which is determined to change God’s Word and make it say what is wanted by the culture and society of “the day.” Finally, Jesus Christ is the authority of God as the Culminator! In plainer words, Jesus Christ will end all rule and authority against the Church when He Raptures us home (I Thess. 4:16-18). Jesus Christ will end all rule and authority of Antichrist and his armies in the Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19:20). Jesus Christ will put Satan in the Lake of Fire and shut him up forever in eternal torment at the end of the Battle of Gog and Magog (Revelation 20:7-10). The Contemporary church, in the core of its belief system, feels that Jesus Christ is a “passive pushover” with no authority in a person’s life. That is simply not true.
