Today we will conclude our devotions on “The Names of Our Lord” and my text is Isaiah 9:6. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (KJV) The final name the Holy Spirit moved on Isaiah to show us is that Jesus Christ is “The Prince of Peace!” Please notice that Jesus Christ is referred to as “The Prince.” A prince is a King in waiting, so this is speaking of the future Kingdom of our Lord here on this earth. One day Jesus Christ will reign from Jerusalem as King of all kings and Lord of all lords! World leaders today give no thought at all to Jesus Christ, but one day, He will be the only Person that will matter!
Also, notice that Jesus Christ is The Prince “of Peace!” The reason there is no peace in this world’s society is because of the rejection of Jesus Christ. The Lord came to this earth to give peace. In John 14:27, we read “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (KJV) Jesus Christ came to give “peace with God” to Hell-deserving sinners (Romans 5:1). Once a sinner is saved, then the “peace of God” can be enjoyed in the heart and life as we yield our self to the Holy Spirit and God’s Word (Philippians 4:6-7). The bottom line is that, only in Jesus Christ can true peace be found. Do you know Him? If you don’t, trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and then you will possess real, lasting peace.
