Our devotion today is entitled, “The Precious Blood Of Christ” and my text is I Peter 1:18-20. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,” (KJV) I want to thank God for the reality that He freely offers forgiveness of sin and eternal life to all who believe on Him for their soul’s salvation! Why? Because Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb of God, shed His precious Blood to pay the penalty for our sin.
The precious Blood of Jesus Christ is such an important part of the basis of the salvation of a soul, as is the resurrection of our Savior. The precious Blood of Christ provides for our present justification in the sight of God and also delivers the believer from the wrath to come. The Word of God reminds us that if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we will not only enjoy fellowship with our Lord, but also continual cleansing from sin’s defilement through the precious Blood of Christ “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
We ought to strive daily to be obedient children of God and live our life magnifying the power of the precious Blood of Christ to those who are unsaved. If we honestly consider the Blood of Christ to be precious, then we will separate from the ungodliness in this world that will corrupt and defile our testimony. The Word of God tells us that we have been bought with a price in I Corinthians 6:19-20, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” We should live in accordance with this fact.
